This is a fantastic EP from a promising rising star - she's already scored her first #1 in New Zealand and I wouldn't be surprised if this reaches #1 in the near future. It's easier to deliver excellent EP's because there's not enough time to drag it down with filler, but as an EP, it's excellent. All are good tracks with mint production and haunting vocals. She kinda reminds me of Lana del Rey mixed with Jessie Ware and I like it! Good stuff.

Great debut EP from 16 year old Ella Yelich-O'Connor, otherwise know as 'Lorde'. Most of this EP mixes in her haunting harmonies with some cool beats. There is not a bad track on here!

My favourites are 'Royals' and 'The Love Club'.

A great EP. Was a very nice and enjoyable listen. The vocals are superb, the production is dark, mysterious and is also superb. I see hints of Marina & The Diamonds, Florence + The Machine, Charli XCX and Lana Del Rey while listening to this. Which is a good thing as I enjoy music from all those artists. Royals is by far the best track on here, but the others are great as well.

Royals - 6 Stars
The Love Club - 4.5 Stars
Bravado 4.5 Stars
Biting Down - 4 Stars
Million Dollar Bills - 4 Stars
Bravado Remix - 4.5 Stars

All up a great EP from this up and coming Kiwi star. Very excited to see what Lorde will bring us in future

It's still early days so it's very difficult to pin Lorde down to a specific style; all the songs I've heard from her thus far are quite different. This being an EP makes sense as it's a good showcasing platform. What we get here is an interesting collection of songs with intriguing production. Sometimes it comes close to overpowering the song (such as in "Million Dollar Bills"), which can be a problem.

Most of the songs stand up pretty well on their own. "Royals" goes without saying, but "The Love Club" is another strong highlight too. I suspect her next release will be more cohesive, but this is an intriguing start. 4.4

Royals: *** *** (!)
Million Dollar Bills: *** **
The Love Club: *** *** (umwerfend!!!)
Biting Down: *** **

Durchschnitt: 5,6

Very promising debut of the 'Only Popular Musician from New Zealand That Doesn't Acutally Suck' of the year 2013, her use of vocals to layer up sparsely arranged songs is a welcome trick as she's capable of some great melodies that colour in the empty space left from the skeletal beats and basslines, overall it shows promise and inspires confidence for improvement
