#1 album, fällt aber im vergleich zum vorgänger deutlich ab. trotzdem hat es was beruhigendes, was in dieser art (in den 90ern) nur noch nirvana's "in utero" gleichkommt..

wiegen ganz klar..... 5 - 6

Der Nachfolger des Platinumalbums "Different Class" wird gerne als düster und schwierig abgestempelt, das liegt aber nur an einer handvoll Songs wie dem Opener "The Fear", dem Titeltrack oder "Seductive Barry". Grundsätzlich hätte "This Is Hardcore" das gleiche Potential Hitsingles abzuwerfen wie der Vorgänger, doch Pulp gehen lieber den schwierigen Weg; die Songs sind weniger glanzvoll produziert und oft werden sie von Störgeräuschen oder ähnlichem unterbrochen. Der eigentlich hitverdächtige Closer "The Day After the Revolution" endet gar mit einer 10-minütigen Synthiespielerei, wie sie sich zu der Zeit keine Britpopband getraut hätte. Wo ich beim Vorgänger abrundete, runde ich hier auf. Mein Lieblingsalbum der Band.
